Hello, my name is Moníca Pugh and with Glenn's help, we all tend to our urban flower farm. We concentrate on stuffing as many perennials in our front and back yard as possible and then we also rent a small garden space west of town to grow our annuals. Our dog children, Jace & Ginger, help with critter patrol and our adorning farm fowl provide insect patrol as well as manure and eggshells for the compost.
I got started in the flower business because of adventure and always wanting to follow my instinctual heart for growth. Growing various perennials and annuals has always been a labor of love for me, so I thought I would gather my seasonal blooms and bring them to a farmer's market that I was already attending. When they didn't sell well, I followed my instinctual heart to a local specialty store, who placed their first order of artisan bouquets that same week. Thus, Floras & Bouquets was born.
Passion & Inspiration
I am passionate about feeding the soil and using organic, sustainable practices for the best quality blooms possible, believing that if we give life back to the soil, it will provide life back to us.
I am touched by nature and how things grow naturally. That one little leaf may be imperfect, but when all the colors, textures and smells of the outdoors are interwoven, it creates one vast harmonious perfect space full of life and untamed inspiration.
Memories & Dreams
I will never forget the very first time I sold flowers. I was a little girl and got this crazy idea to go out and pick the wild flowers that were growing in the field and sell them to those who drove by on our country road. My father thought it was the stupidest idea, but, it just so happened, fate was on my side that day. Little did I know, there was a huge estate sale happening down the road. There I stood at the end of the driveway with my little wild flower bouquets and home made cardboard sign that was misspelled. I sold every bouquet that day. It just goes to show you what can happen when you follow your instinctual heart.
I dream of one day having my own acreage with a home that I can share with others. A B&B/Flower Farm with an old fashioned barn to host events would be the ultimate.
